This painting started as a mono print using the pigments left on my palette at the end of an oil painting session. After the initial print was dry I added oil pigments, oil pastels, and oil pencil marks, following the organic forms to define and enrich them. One of the tools I used was a color shaper which I had notched to make marks called hatching. I connected the darks and harmonized the palette. As I worked I realized how much I liked the hatching marks and decided the finished image would reflect on that word hatching.
