This is one of a series of still life paintings done in the studio. I constructed a set-up with three sides which I can change separately. I was particularly interested in controlling the light source (my studio windows) entering the set and how I could make an interesting composition with the edges and planes of the contrived �room� with the shading and shadows of the form, in this case a pear. In each case, what evolved reminds me of the female form. This one named herself Loretta.
